Jute is seriously hip – it’s made from a plant! Our unique selling point is that our jute bags are not treated or backed with polypropylene with a down to earth and honest eco-message. This means that when you bury one in your garden … it is gone in three months! Now that is truly biodegradable. And our bags are an important hallmark for sustainability.

Helping people negotiate the complicated terrain of eco-shopping is also what we are committed to. We encourage discussions on products and services which are nothing more than ‘green washing’. This also applies to services and products purporting to be ‘green’ and actually being no better or in some cases, worse than those they are potentially replacing. The most notable example of this in past months is Anya Hindmarsh. She attempted to make herself synonymous with the eco-movement with her ‘I am NOT a plastic bag’ carrier bag. But it wasn’t long before the headline read, ‘I am not an ethical bag’.
